However, Mangala's marriage is arranged to a member of Virendra Pratap's family in order to reunite the families permanently. Rudra, however, is determined to kill Abhay and his family to avenge the deaths of his sister and father.Ībhay eventually succeeds and decides to ask his grandfather for permission to marry Mangala. Abhay, hearing this, resolves to reunite the two families in some way. Vishnu Pratap blames his son for the discord within the family, and shunned him and his children, as a result. The bride, despondent over her humiliation, committed suicide that day Virendra Pratap's son-in-law and brother also died, as a result of the fight that broke out at the wedding. However, Indra was in love with Abhay's mother, and ran away on the day of the wedding to avoid the marriage. 25 years before, they decided that Abhay's father, Indra, would marry Virendra Pratap's niece.
Virendra Pratap and Vishnu Pratap are brothers-in-law who were once close friends after Vishnu married his sister to Virendra. Vishnu Pratap slaps Abhay for his actions even though he was defending himself against Rudra.Ībhay finds out Rudra's anger towards his family is a deep-rooted family feud. Abhay ends up getting into a fight with the family of Virendra Pratap ( Govind Namdeo), specifically his nephew, Rudra Pratap ( Sharad Kapoor). The two start playing pranks and teasing each other, which eventually leads to them falling in love. He also starts to become friendly with Mangala ( Richa Pallod), granddaughter of Vishnu Pratap's friend, who lives with the family. However, he shows a kind and caring side that wins the affections of his family members. Their grandson, Abhay ( Fardeen Khan), arrives with his mother and sister to the village, and is initially greeted with animosity. At the behest of his wife, Vishnu Pratap calls his estranged son's family from Bombay for the event. Aditya is present and is affectionate with Raj, calling him "Dad." Sanjeev becomes jealous and angry, insulting Raj and his family. This puts Namrata on the path of reconciliation with Sanjeev.Īfter a chance meeting, Raj invites Sanjeev to his home for the wedding. Sanjeev refuses to leave, becoming stubborn and persistent, threatening her with a lawsuit for custody of Aditya. Namrata is aghast and makes it clear that she does not want anything to do with him. A short while later, he finds out that Sanjeev ( Arbaaz Khan) has returned and is looking to reconcile with Namrata. Namrata and Raj begin to bond.Īfter some months, Raj decides to introduce Namrata to his mother. On being prodded by Raj, she tells him that her husband Sanjeev left her for another woman whilst she was pregnant. She attempts to distance herself from him, but a stubborn Raj follows her to Aditya's boarding school, having promised the boy to pose as his father. Finding a letter that Raj had written confessing his feelings, Namrata gets upset thinking Raj tried to use her son to get close to her. Raj's uncle informs him that Namrata's husband disappeared right before Aditya's birth, and has never returned to his son or wife. Raj is confused but forms a strong fatherly relationship with Aditya. After some deliberation, he decides to tell her, but to his surprise, he discovers she has a 7-year-old son, Aditya. During the course of the wedding ceremonies, Raj discovers that he is falling for Namrata.
